Service Description
This comprehensive course is designed to equip florists with the knowledge and confidence to source, design, and create stunning arrangements using sustainable reusable techniques with British flowers, foliage, and planted materials throughout the year. The course is comprised of four, two-day sessions, one for each season, allowing participants to gain a comprehensive understanding of how to work with British stems year-round. Booking all four sessions together offers a 10% discount or a £230 saving. To secure your place, a deposit of £570 is required, with the remaining balance payable in full or in equal monthly instalments of £185 over eight months. *Please see the individual seasons for full content description* During the Spring session, you will tour the farm, learn about the different sources of cut material in the UK, and cut and condition Spring blooms from the flower field. The floristry element will include creating table centre arrangements and bouquets, which you will photograph and take home. You will also learn about pricing structures and costing up designs The Summer session will see you harvesting stems from the flower field, and exploring the wide variety of flowers available during this season. We will discuss how to approach flower farmers and what to expect from different types of suppliers. Sarah will demonstrate large urn arrangements, and there will be discussions around costing. You will also create meadow-boxes and kokedama, which you can take home, before bringing all the designs together into one spectacular installation, for which there will be time for photography. In the Autumn session, you will learn about using colour and texture in bouquets and work as a team to create arch installations. We will explore specialty Autumn flowers and where to source them. You will also gain an understanding of the administrative details involved in creating large installations, including costing. The Winter session will focus on creating large hoops and wreaths, which will be brought together for a dramatic installation in our incredible barn. You will learn about incorporating living plant materials in hanging arrangements, the flowers and foliage available during the winter from British growers, and gain confidence in using them in your winter designs. Jess will teach you knots suitable for hanging installations. Lunch and refreshments will be provided each day, and you will take home the arrangements and vessels that you create.
