About the event
Katie and Jess will be demonstrating sustainable floristry mechanics using flowers they have grown on their flower farm, Featherstone's English Flower Company, located just outside Stockbridge, Hampshire. Â
Hosted by St. Michael’s and All Angels Church in Winterbourne Earls, this will be a friendly and fun introduction for those who are looking to replace floral foam in their church floristry.  Katie will demonstrate arrangements using a freestanding urn and other vessels from the church adapted for use with sustainable methods. This will include the use of chicken wire and moss, flower frogs and other natural supports. In addition to using the church's own vessels, they will bring further ideas  of containers to use in different areas of the church, such as in the windows or to decorate the font.  Katie and Jess are passionate about flowers grown locally and without the use of harmful chemicals. They can provide advice on sourcing flowers and sourcing vessels suitable for church floristry.  Featherstone's Flower Company care deeply about supporting places of worship in becoming truly sustainable in both their acquisition of flowers and the techniques and mechanics that they use within their design work. They are donating their time and flowers to this and all local church flower arrangers are welcome.Â
Free to book, a £5 donation to the church on entry is suggested to cover church costs. Refreshments will be provided.
