What is Flower Club at Featherstone’s?

Flower Club is one of our favourite offerings here at Featherstone Flowers. It is our year-long programme for anyone who would like to learn more about growing, harvesting and arranging seasonal cut flowers. Running from March to December, it follows the natural rhythm of the flower field and the changing seasons, bringing together practical growing skills with thoughtful, seasonal floristry.

Each monthly session begins outdoors, where we focus on what’s happening in the field and explore the growing topic for that month — from seed sowing and cuttings in spring, through to planning, protection and division later in the year. From there, we move into the historic Tithe Barn to learn conditioning techniques and explore a different style of arranging each time.

In 2026, across the year, members will get to try a wide range of designs. These include simple spring vase arrangements, hand-tied bouquets, botanical flower hammering, hanging designs suspended from the barn beams, large-scale collaborative installations, dried-flower work, and winter wreath making. Rather than isolated projects, skills are layered gradually, helping members build confidence and understanding over time.

“My complete de-stress after a day at work. Lovely, like-minded people on the course and extremely knowledgeable instructors who are only ever positive in their comments about our abilities........the course is an absolute delight for all things plant and flower based ...I've already booked again for next year."

Flower Club is open to all levels, and many members come along on their own. The group is consistently friendly and welcoming, with plenty of shared learning and encouragement.

While Flower Club is led by Katie and Jess, it is very much a team effort. Across each session there are always several members of the Featherstone’s team on hand to support you, demonstrate techniques, and answer questions as you work. This means plenty of individual guidance, whether you’re learning something new or refining existing skills. Each session is supported by detailed handouts, available online after the class, along with additional notes to revisit at home. Between sessions, members are also part of a friendly WhatsApp group, where questions, ideas and advice are shared throughout the month, supported by both the Featherstone’s team and fellow Flower Club members.

"A novel, interesting, educational and fun experience. Throughout the year you learn such a lot of transferable information in the field and barn. You cut your own flowers and amaze yourself at how they can be arranged in all sorts of vessels to create the most stunning of displays - large, small, wreaths, statement arrangements, dried and fresh flowers….all only possible by the knowledge, assistance and guidance of this incredible team. Wouldn’t have missed it for the world. Thank you Featherstone"
